Growing up in a small town in upstate New York , I yearned for something different. So when I got the chance, I wandered- from state to state and into foreign lands. I eventually lived in Europe three years and five years in the Middle East, as well as stints in Alaska and Hawaii. Spending so much time outside my own culture honed my skills of observation and made me want to capture the best moments. I took a darkroom class in Chicago in the mid-90's which began my explorations in photography. At that time my main subject was my 4 year old daughter Katya- now 16 she is still a favorite subject, but my range has expanded to include anything that catches my eye: architecture, landscapes, travel, textures.

I'd have to say I am a bit old-school- I like developing my own film and printing my own prints. After nearly a decade, I still get a kick out of seeing my images on a wet negative or magically emerging on paper in the glow of a dim red light. I prefer black and white for its emotional depth and timelessness. I depend on my 35mm Canon AE-1, the Holga (medium-format plastic camera) for fun, and occasionally I get out my old Crown Graphic 4x5. Recent forays into digital and color have (almost) convinced me of their value. After four years in rural Vermont, we have left the chickens and the barn behind for Portland, Oregon.

I am currently seeking a stock agency to represent my work in everyday objects and food photography.
